Where it began

  • Dream it.

    What initially was a half-joking comment made between friends, continued to be bathed in prayer and stirred in the prophetic until Waffles + Word was officially born.

  • The Call.

    In the Summer of 2024, 40 people gathered in a home around a table with waffles in hand, curiosity in their heart, and vision for God to manifest Himself. It was pure, real, authentic with no pretense. It was the start of something beautiful. We rallied around four things: Presence, Proclamation, Prayer, and People. As we prayed, listened and dialogued we knew in our hearts with confidence that God was calling us to pioneer something new. We sensed God was calling us out of the boat into the waters of what could be. Calling isn’t birthed from a place of comfort, but a place of dependence.

  • Next Chapter.

    On March 16, 2025, we entered Chapter 2 and began corporate gatherings at The Awaken House in Spring Hill, TN. It was a new space, but carried the same spirit that met in the living room. We rallied with hearts united to host His Presence and love people well.

As God continues to author our story and as we turn the page to what’s next, we do so embracing what our hearts have been longing for… to come alive to Jesus and wake up the wonder of God! We do so not seeking to build another organization or establishment or become just another church. Jesus’ vision for His Church wasn’t about a building or location. His vision was for a gathering of His people who would gather in His name to announce the arrival of a King and a Kingdom. He envisioned a gathering to represent heaven’s rule and judgments, to establish a visible outpost of Christ’s Kingdom.

As a community, we’re choosing deep connection over shallow community. We’re choosing fellowship over programs. We’re choosing true worship over performance.

We’re coming back to the simple foundation of people gathering not around a man, but around Jesus and the finished work of the cross. We’re coming back to signs, wonders, and miracles again. We’re coming back to baptisms and lives being transformed,rescued from darkness and addiction. We’re coming back to being the hospital church again, instead of a museum or a palace. We’re coming back to what looks small and insignificant but carries immense weight in the spirit.

We endeavor to be a people who gather under an open Heaven that carry Heaven into every sector and sphere in Middle Tennessee and beyond.

We have great faith that an entire city will come alive to Jesus. We have great faith that a city will awaken to the wonder and glory of God. We believe a great giant of revival is rising.

We believe that the presence of God will go before us and His people will arise, shine and become radiant.

We gather in His name to go in His power.
